The Haitian senators went on a retreat at Club Indigo late last week, 3-5 Dec, 2014, and they came up with a proposition and submitted it to President Michel Martelly they think is a way out of the political crisis in Haiti... Opposition Senators did not sign this proposition...

Here is what the Senate proposes translated to English:

PROPOSALS

To avoid rupture, dislocation and chaos, the Senate demands that a serious sit-downs convene and quickly to discuss the following issues:

1) Democratic governance;
2) Sovereign and credible elections;
3) Fundamental popular demands;
4) The dysfunctionality of some republican institutions.

The Senate, after reviewing Article 136 of the Constitution, challenges the Head of State to convene promptly greater powers of the state in order to take all measures necesary to save the nation.

This must be done before the Christmas holiday, the letter says.
