FLASH: 500 new Haitian Army soldiers will begin basic training in January 2019
The Haitian army was looking for a few good men, more than 4,000 registered, 500 have been recruited and begin basic training to be part of the first promotion of Haitian army soldiers of the Jovenel Moise era. Training of these 500 future young soldiers will begin in January 2019, Haiti Minister of Defense Enol Joseph said.

According to news reports, There are repairs being made to dormitories that will house these new Haitian army soldiers the at the Gressier military base where they will receive basic training.

Training of these new soldiers will take between four and five months, the Defense minister said, and they will be trained by the Mexican military trainers and Haitian trainers, mostly former soldiers and some civilians.
The minister said he has already agreed with the Mexican authorities who will send doctors, agronomists and engineers to the country who will help train the first class of soldiers.
The Mexican military trainers will arrive in Haiti on January 18th.
Some Haitian military personnel will also receive military training in Mexico to strengthen the Haitian Army Corps of Engineering, he added.
