Haitian-American Candidate for U.S. Congress Robbed at Gunpoint
Haitian-American Politics, Miami FL - Democratic congressional candidate Marleine Bastien was robbed at gunpoint yesterday while waiting to make a campaign appearance at a church in North Miami.
Marleine Bastien was waiting to in her car at the parking lot of the Church of the Living God when an armed gunman pulled up and robbed her and her sister.

Marleine Bastien is one of 9 candidates who are on a democratic race to replace U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Four of these candidates are Haitian:
- Attorney Phillip Brutus
- Advocate Marleine Bastien
- Nurse Yolly Roberson
- Doctor and movie star Rudy Moise
Kendrick Meek is running for U.S. Senate.
