Haiti - Senator Rony Celestin urges fellow Senators to do the people's job so they can get out of dire poverty
Haiti Senator Rony Celestin on the Senate Floor
"We have to do our jobs as Senators,' Rony Celestin said.
In the aftermath of the violent gas price hike protests that led to the resignation of Haitian Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant, Senators converged in a session Wednesday to reflect on the events of the 6th an 7th of July 2018, among other things.
"Whenever a government is formed, it is us senators who vote the general policy of the Prime Minister and the government as a whole," Senator Rony Celestin said. "When things are not working they way they should, as a Senator, you have to take a stand."
"Even if you happen to be alone when you take a stand, society will notice who is looking out for the best interest of the people."
"Instead of coming here on the senate floor making long speeches. Let us show the population that we want to accompany them for real so that the people who are at the lowest level of society can go up the ladder even a little bit."
"Let's admit it, we are devil," Senator Rony Celestin said. " It's time we all go to back to church and be born again so we give the people of Haiti the type of services they deserve."
