VIDEO: Haiti - Depute Jerry Tardieu says former PM Jack Guy Lafontant is a racist

Although very satisfied that Jack Guy Lafontant is no longer the prime minister of Haiti, Petion-Ville depute Jerry Tardieu says he was very shocked to hear how the former prime minister spoke about the residents of Petionville and Kenscoff.

In his short speech in front of the Chamber of deputies, former prime minister Lafontant said his father who was a missionary told him that people from Petion-Ville and Kenscoff should be the ones to run this country. I am sure he meant they should not be the only ones.

Depute Tardieu was not very happy about the prime minister's comments.

"The Declaration of the former prime minister is racist and I would hope that, very quickly, he explains to the people of Petion-Ville what he meant when he said that," Tardieu said.

"I believe that, at the highest level of the state, a leader should have a speech of inclusion not a speech of exclusion," he added.
