Haiti Senate moves their offices to a fancy Hotel in Petionville, price tag 2.1 million Gourdes

The offices of the Senate of the Republic of Haiti has been moved to to a fancy hotel in the hills of Petionville due to insecurity in downtown Port-au-Prince.

According to a contract signed between the Senate, represented hi its president Carl Murat Cantave, and Horser Haiti S.A., three two-bedroom apartments were rented at the Ritz Kinam Hotel to house the 3 offices of the Senate from November 19, 2019 to January 18, 2019.

Senate President Carl Murat Cantave says he is fed up with growing insecurity in full swing along Harry Truman Boulevard, better known as the Bicentenaire, in downtown Port-au-Prince, where the Haitian parliament lodges.

So the best thing to do as a lawmaker instead of addressing the issue is to pack up and leave the area and relocate to a fancy Hotel in Petionville in order to protect Senators and certain employees

"Our senators and our employees are not safe. As the head of the Senate, I proposed to relocate temporarily part of the administration of Parliament pending improvement of the situation," Carl Murat Cantave said in an interview Radio Caraibes FM Friday morning.

This decision will cost the public treasury 2,170,500 gourdes as posted on the contract. That's over $23,000 US if you divide by 92.

Insecurity in Haiti is clearly costing the State lots of money and inconvenience but at least the senators have fancy alternatives unlike the people of Haiti.
