According to Eleuthera Nwes-com on 21 May 2012, Event inspires student to pledge never to tease her classmates again.

On May 12th, at The Eleuthera Arts and Cultural Centre in Tarpum Bay, a group of brave students from the Deep Creek Middle School (DCMS) hosted an event focused on bringing together the Haitian and Bahamian community on the island.

The event was led by Moesha Leary of Waterford, a 9th grader at DCMS. She came up with the idea in her Youth Activism class after hearing the personal story of a Haitian refugee who came to speak to the students.

Through the event she hoped to educate the community about discrimination against Haitians while celebrating the similarities of the two cultures.

The event involved :

A presentation by students on the geography of Haiti and the common history and culture that the Bahamas and Haiti share as neighbours.
