Not surprisingly there is a correlation between foreign interventions in Haiti and the DR arrogance that cannot be ignored.

It was under the first US occupation (1915-34) that Haiti lost part of its territory (1929) to the DR. In 1937, while Haiti was recovering from the effects of the US occupation, Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, the DR strongman, ordered the indiscriminate slaughter of 30.000 Haitians.
