Haiti Elections - Prime Minister Evans Paul worried about Election ballots

Haitian Prime Minister Evans Paul is worried that there will be way too much stuff on the Haiti elections ballots this year with so many candidates out there... With one photo, one emblem and a number for each candidate, it will be a very tight squeeze and a mission impossible...

KREYOL: Haiti - Premier Minis Evans Paul di: pwal gen twòp senbòl nan bilten election 2015 yo paske genyen twòp kandida... 100 photo, 100 anblèm, 100 nimewo pou 100 kandida... Kisa ou panse de sa?

Reality Check... There are many Haitian voters who cannot read. They only recognize photos and images, something that explains why each political party uses some kind of emblem, a cow, a goat, a donkey to identify its candidates along with the candidate's photo.

Prime Minister Evans Paul believes it is abnormal for an election ballot to have more than 300 symbols, something that will give voters a hard time to cast their votes.

Evans PAUL, 17th Prime Minister of Haiti

"Why 300 symbols?" the prime Minister asks, "you will have 100 photos, 100 emblems and 100 numbers," assuming there are only 100 candidates on the ballot.

"Is this the kind of spectacle we really want to offer to Haitian voters," PM Evans Paul said.

The Haitian government is trying to its best to encourage the political parties to regroup in order to avoid this catastrophe but, so far, the political parties are not regrouping.

With so many candidates in this years elections. how long will these elections ballots have to be in order to accommodate such a long list and keep the ballot simple and easy to read.

What do you think about that?
