The only way for Haiti to get better will be through the private sector, PM Lamothe said
Haiti's government is betting foreign investors from Lazard Ltd. (LAZ) to Carnival Corp. (CCL) will help supplant foreign aid as it seeks to expand its tourism, mining and energy industries, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe said.
"The only way for Haiti to get better will be through the private sector," Lamothe, 42, said in an interview yesterday at Bloomberg's headquarters in New York, citing projects including new seaports and industrial parks. "We are seeing transformational changes that have never happened in our history."
