Haiti Diplomacy - 404 Haitian diplomatic staff members fired
Haiti had 491 diplomats scattered around the world with 512 contracters appointed. Foreign Affairs Minister Antonio Rodrigue changed all that.
Ministre Rodrique told Haitian newspaper Le Nouvelliste he has been working very hard to restructure and reform Haitian diplomacy in order to make it more useful to the nation. one way he did that was to reduce the staff considerably.

"Diplomacy is not the affair of amateurs," he said. "It is necessary to call on experienced, competent and well-trained managers. Diplomatic missions should in no way be seen as refuges for rights holders, but as places of production of images of knowledge and interest whose mission is to actively and dynamically represent the country on the international scene."

At present, there are 599 diplomatic personnel, including 349 diplomats and 250 contractors.
