Wyclef Says He Will Appeal His Rejection As Candidate For President Of Haiti

Wyclef Jean posted the following message on Twitter earlier today: "Tomorrow our Lawyers are appealing the decision of the CEP. We have met all the requirements set by the laws. And the law must be Respected"

Bon Fout... Men Li!

Remember a few days ago, I wrote an article with the following title: What Does "Residence" In Haiti Mean Exactly?

I wrote that article because I had a feeling "RESIDANS" would become the hot topic of this election.

Keep in mind...

The Haitian constitution does not define exactly what "Residence in Haiti" really means. It simply says in aticle 135e "Have resided in the country for five (5) consecutive years before the date of the elections"

Does that mean you are not allowed to leave Haiti for one day, one week, one month, or nine months for that matter?

What does it mean in LEGAL terms?

So basically...

If you have a home in Haiti, a business in Haiti, a charity organization in Haiti, and you have NOT been OUT of the country totally EACH year, for FIVE consecutive years... Does that men you have "Residence in Haiti?"

Legally I would say YES...

If the constitution cannot prove otherwise, can 7 men and 2 women (The CEP) interpret the constitution their way and decide to kick someone out of the race solely on the basis of "Residence"????

HMMM?

Don't shoot the messenger, I am just playing devil's advocate

But I do want to hear your thoughts on this matter

I am back from recuperating from this bad and insulting news!

I still have not lost hope and I think Wyclef will indeed end up on the list by November, because Wyclef did not choose the time but God and the time has chose him instead.

Just like Obama.

I strongly support this topic.

Wyclef has the right to go for an appeal.

He is Ayisyen, atik 135 di ke fok ou gen rezidans an ayiti pou 5 an, loske ou fet nan yon peyi ou pa bezwen rezidans, ou se citoyen peyi a. kelkesoi Ayisyen kap viv nan yon lot peyi, ou se rezidan nan prop peyi ou depi ou gen kay ou byen teren.

Well I agree with this article that's what many people could not understand, legally he is a resident in Haiti since the law do not define residency in Haiti, No one nor the CEP can say otherwise from the constitution i am glad he is taking the necessary step, we shall fight the law with the laws special in Haiti when the law has been dead for almost 200 years in a country where the law is broken too many Time, Us in the Diaspora need to support the movement of wyclef that way they'll stop excluding Us in the important matter of the country we are a minority but we are in big numbers 4 millions and we are a key support of the country's
