June 1st 2014 marks 10 Years of MINUSTAH in Haiti

Did you know? --- Today, 01 June 2014, marks 10 years since the United Nations Stabilization Mission In Haiti (MINUSTAH) landed in our country on a peacekeeping mission... They have been in operation in Haiti since 10 June 2004... What do you think? Do you feel that Haiti is 'stabilized' or that the peace keeping mission succeeded?

I have to admit... There has been NO COUP d'Etat in Haiti since MINUSTAH arrived... Is that due to their presence or that Haitians know better?

Kèk fwa. mwen sispèk ke si MINUSTAH pat la, gen lè nou tap pase plis chèd deta nen 10 lane ki sot pase yo laa...

TRANSLATION: Sometimes I feel that if MINUSTAH was not present in Haiti, we would have gone through more chiefs of state in the last 10 years...

Haitians often say "Bòt sire pa dwe pile tè Dessalines lan" but what have we done to prevent that from happening in the future? Are we choosing the right leaders to ensure stability and a continuous growth in Haiti?

Look at all the political bickering happening right now... Leaders unable to find a consensus on simple matters... Ale wè pou yo ta mennen Haiti nan yon bon direction...

In Haiti, right now, I feel that some people want to move forward but there are others who want more of the same thing...

We can sit here and complain that MINUSTAH has been in Haiti for a whole DECADE now... Hey... It happened already... How do we make sure it never happens again?

Great job,

Israel is rich and other countries are very rich they have Minustah to help them, about a poor country like Haïti?

I don't know for you, but I trust them more than the Haitian's police in Haïti they work hard for the money and they will not négiciate 50 gourdes, 100 gourdes etc. under the table with the Haitian's people for the wrong thing they are doing in Haïti, May Minustha stay Haïti for life, may the Haitien's government be blessed and find the money to pay them on time, instead of sending them home we need more, I would like Minustah become Haïtian's police also.
