Some people on the internet seem to have mistaken his tears for tears of regret. But instead the tears coming from the eyes of Jean Michel Lapin seemed more like tears of a man who could have done more for a country where to be an honest public servant is a joke.

In the presence of President Jovenel Moise at the investiture of new Prime Minister Joseph Jouthe, Jean Michel Lapin could not hide the tears.

"It's been 32 years since I made the choice, with all freedom of mind and conviction, to serve my country," The Prime Minister Lapin said. "Today, the time has come for me to say goodbye to public service."
