Declaration de l'Ambassade des Etats-Unis en Haiti sur l'impasse politique

Le gouvernement des Etats-Unis supporte fermement les efforts accomplis par le Président Martelly pour arriver à un consensus politique global en vue de résoudre l'impasse politique en Haïti.
Le gouvernement américain constate avec de graves inquiétudes que malgré les diverses concessions faites par le Président, le Parlement n'a pas encore voté une loi électorale pour faciliter l'organisation des élections en 2015. Dans le peu de temps qui reste avant la fin du mandat constitutionnel de l'actuel Parlement le 12 janvier, nous exhortons toutes les parties à se mettre d'accord sur un cadre en ce qui concerne les mandats parlementaires, la création d'un nouveau Conseil Electoral Provisoire, le vote des amendements de la loi électorale, et la formation d'un gouvernement de consensus.
Le gouvernement des Etats-Unis exhorte fortement les parties à trouver une solution qui garantit la continuité des institutions républicaines d'Haïti en conformité avec la Constitution.
Toutefois, si cette solution ne peut être trouvée d'ici le 12 janvier, les Etats-Unis continueront de travailler avec le Président Martelly et quelles que soient les institutions du gouvernement légitime haïtien en place en vue de sauvegarder les avancées significatives que nous avons réalisées ensemble depuis le tremblement de terre du 12 janvier 2010. Le peuple haïtien a le droit d'élire ses dirigeants, et dans ces circonstances, les Etats-Unis s'attendraient à ce que le Président se serve de ses pouvoirs exécutifs de manière responsable en vue d'organiser des élections inclusives, crédibles et transparentes, rapidement que possible.
