Haiti Chamber of Deputies voted the electoral law
The Chamber of Deputies voted unanimously Tuesday evening, the amendment of the electoral law, as required in the agreement El Rancho 24 hours after the transmission to both Houses by the Executive, of the Draft amendment of the Electoral Act 2013.
However, several changes were made to the electoral law by the Deputies among the most significant include :
Thus, Article 57.1 of the Electoral Act 2013 which stated "The agents who were appointed on an interim basis in elected position can not participate in the next elections.
was amended to provide an opportunity for municipal interim executive agents, to participate in the forthcoming municipal, provided they resign within a maximum period of 15 days after the date of publication of the amended electoral law.
Article 58 which stated "The Municipal Council is composed of three (3) members, one (1) Mayor and two (2) Deputy Mayors.
The cartel comprises at least one woman," has been modified and now removes the requirement of compliance with 30% of women in the cartels for elective positions.
The deputies also amended Article 90 paragraph m) which required for a candidate "The five (5) recent proof of payment of tax charges
