Haiti's Judicial power has a new president. Judge Rene Sylvestre replaced Jules Cantave as President of the Court of Cassation and the Supreme Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ).

Chief Justice Rene Sylvestre swore in as president in a ceremony held Friday, 01 October 2019, at the Cour de Cassation.

Jule Cantave was president of the Judicial power since March 2015.

Judge René Sylvestre has a carreer of more than 25 years in the judiciary until he assumed its leadership, taking the heavy responsibility to change the image of the Haitian judicial system.

High Level meeting in Haiti between President Jovenel and the Presidents of the Senate, Depute and CSPJ

President Jovenel Moise and President Gary Bodeau

A high level meeting between president Jovenel Moise, Senate President Carl Murat Cantave, Depute President Garry Bodeau and Judicial president Rene Sylvestre was held at the national palace Thursday in an attempt to solve the political crisis.

According to Haitian newspaper Le Nouveliste, this meeting was held at the demand of president Jovenel Moise

President Jovenel Moise said he is ready for inclusive dialogue and wants to be part of the solution, Depute Gary Bodeau told the newspaper.
