Ministre Joseph Jouthe, Haiti's finance minister made sure to remind Maitre Claudy Gassant, the new boss of the anti-corruption unit ULCC that he took the job at a moment when the people of Haiti are incessantly demanding accountability.

Speaking at the installation ceremony of Maitre Claudy Gassant, Ministre Joseph Jouthe invited the new Director General of ULCC to fight the most decried cases of corruption in Haiti by putting in place mechanisms to discourage people from practicing corruption.

Maitre Claudy Gassant is the new director General of Haiti's Anti-Coruption Unit -- Unité de Lutte Contre la Corruption (ULCC). Maitre Claudy Gassant was installed on the same day, December 03, 2019.

The Presidential Order (arrêté présidentiel) naming Claudy Gassant Directeur General is dated November 27, 2019 and was published on November 29th.

Claudy Gassant, former government commissioner of Port-au-Prince, replaces David Bazile in this post.

OAS to spend USD 17.7 million to fight corruption in Haiti

The Organization of American States (OAS) has decided to support a program to fight against corruption in Haiti with a technical and financial assistance of $ 17.7 million.

According to Haitian newspaper Le Nouvellsite, the mechanism that the OAS will use to support the fight against corruption in the country is not yet known. However, Bocchit Edmond the Haitian Minister of Foreign Affairs said OAS has already approved a $ 17.7 million envelope
