Nicolas Duvalier to Opposition: "I will never agree for an elected president to leave office just like that"

Nicolas Francois Duvalier made it very clear to the opposition in Haiti that he does not want President Jovenel Moise to be forced out of office just like that.

According to the son of former dictator Jean Claude Duvalier, the premature departure of his father from power, although somewhat organized turned Haiti into a chaotic state despite all the armed forces that existed back then. He expect worse to happen should Jovenel leave prematurely.

"I hear talks about a 'départ ordoné' (ordered departure), I would like the people making this statement to explain to me what exactly it means."

"When Jean Claude-Duvalier left Haiti in 1896, he planed his departure with the Conseil National de Gouvernment (CNG). We had the Haitian Armed forces (FADH), we had the police, we had the gendarmerie. Yet and still, things went really bad, many people died as a result. That's why I am asking myself, what do they mean by a "départ ordoné" of president Jovenel Moise?" Ti Nicolas Duvalier said.

If all of this happened back then with all the forces that existed to maintain law and order, it makes me wonder what can happen now, Nicolas Duvalier said.

"It is clear that the executive is not taking care of its responsibilities towards the population. If the president decides to step down because of the problems the country is facing, that is his decision. However, there is a legal procedure to get rid of a president," Nicolas Duvalier continued.

To all the senators in the streets of Haiti kicking and screaming for President Jovenel Moise, Ti Nicolas Duvalier has a message:

"I notice all these senators in the streets asking for president Jovenel to step down. They prefer to do it in the streets instead of doing through legal channels."

"It is not too late for a dialogue, it is still not too late for us to sit down together and bring a solution to this crisis," he said
