Haiti Police Brutality - A video of Haitian riot police throwing stones at a protester has gone viral
A video of a young man lying on the ground on which riot police threw stones during an intervention not far from the residence of President Jovenel Moïse, in Pèlerin 5, Sunday, June 9, was seen and shared by thousands of people on the social media networks.
This video aroused the reaction of the Haiti Police chief Michel-Ange Gedeon who promised to crack down the police officers involved in this act of violence.
"Such practices do not do justice to a guarantor of democracy and the rule of law whose mission is to protect and serve," a note from the Haitian National Police read.
"As a result, the General Inspectorate of the PNH has been instructed to conduct an investigation to identify the suspect police officers and to apply the law and regulations of the institution to the utmost rigor. They will be brought to justice according to law."
