Assemblée National in Haiti - Haitian Senators and Deputes have officially closed the extraordinary Session and oppened officially the first ordinary cession for the year 2019.

President Jovenel Moise presented his state of the union address and Prime Minister Jean Henry Ceant gave a pretty long speech to present the realizations of his government.

While the prime Minister was speaking on the podium, some opposition deputes decided to make all sorts of noise in order to disrupt the Prime Minister but they only succeeded at gaining the attention of the Media for a short while.

Senators and Deputes in Haiti are scheduled to meet in National Assembly on January 7, the second Monday of January to open the legislative year. So who will preside the National Assembly this year? Who will be the President of senate?

According to news reports, Senators Pierre François Sildor, Jean-Renel Sénatus and Carl Murat Cantave are hoping to replace Joseph Lambert as president of the Senate

On Monday September 11 2018, the Haitian deputes have gone on their vacation long vacation until January leaving behind a nominated prime minister, Jean Henry Ceant, who is not yet ratified, a republic without a government.

During his speech at the National Assembly, senate president Joseph Lambert has asked president Jovenel Moise to call the the deputes in a special cession to ratify Prime Minister Jean Henry Ceant.

It is like a never ending movie at Haiti's parliament building... During the National Assembly Tuesday, Senators and Depute could not even decide on the 'Ordre du Jour'... So, it is to be continued...

For hours, the Haitian legislators were debating over whether or not to insert into the "ordre du jour" a part where president Privert returns the presidential sash back to parliament.

After hours, the session was going nowhere, Senator Youri Latortue called for a closed session (huis clos) for 30 minutes. Many hours later, around 3:00am, there was no quorum to continue the National Assembly.

Breaking News... The National Assembly scheduled for today has been postponed due to an incident where pro-Privert street protesters thew rocks at the Parliament building...

This assembly was supposed to decide on the fate of Interim president Jocelerme Privert whose 120 days term has expire; However, during a session were preparations were being made for the assembly, a shower of rocks and bricks were thrown into the premises of the Parliament from outside where a street protest was being held.
