Guy Philippe's Senate Seat up for grabs in next Haiti Elections

Besides the mandate of 10 Senators (one third of the Senater / tier Senat), Guy Philippe's six-year Senate seat will be up for grabs in next Haiti Elections in October 2019 bringing the number of senators to be elected to eleven.

Guy Philippe who was was elected to a six-year senate seat in the 2015 Haiti elections was arrested days before swearing in. He was extradited to the US on the same day as his arrest ad has been in prison since.

His recent appeal has been denied and Haiti's electoral council annouced his Guy Philippe's senate seat is officially vacant and will be up for grabs in the upcoming Haiti elections.
