US Under Secretary of State David Hale met with Haitian President Jovenel Moise

United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale met with Haitian president Jovenel Moise Friday, 01 Mar 2019, and other members of the political opposition.

The Miami Herald describe David Hale as "a relatively unknown diplomat who once served as special envoy for Middle East peace" who the Trump administration chose to come to Haiti to try and break the political stalemate in Haiti and encourage a national dialogue.

President Jovenel Moise posted on his Twitter page:

"I had the honor of welcoming the Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs, David Hale. We had exchanges on the situation of the country. I appreciate the availability of the US government to facilitate the search for an inter-Haitian solution to the socio-political crisis."
