Haitian president Jovenel Moise apologized to the people of Haiti for not providing electricity 24/7 within the time frame he promised.

"I promised to give you electricity 24 hours a day. I could not do it within the time limit, I apologize to you," President Jovenel said in his speech on January 1st, 2020, commemorating Haitian independence say

"I had misjudged the forces involved. These forces are very powerful and take all kinds of forms to maintain this system. They control the main institutions in the country in order to defend their privileges and interests," the president said.

Haitian president Jovenel Moise paid a visit to Varreux power plant Monday, once under the control of Dimitri Vorbe and his company SOGENER.

President Jovenel Moise tweets:

"I visited the Varreux power plant in order to supervise the work in progress."

"At the same time, I urge the public to be patient in our unremitting struggle to soon realize the promise of electric power distribution across the country."

Haiti's Government wants to review the contracts of private electricity suppliers in the country

In Mid-June 2017, President Jovenel Moise promised to electrify Haiti 24/7 in 24 months (Electricité 24 sur 24)

Haiti's Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of the Economy and Finance has invited the three private electricity suppliers in the country to discuss their contract.

The state-of-the-art equipment at the Peligre hydroelectric power plant will guarantee a minimum of about 10 megawatts of power during the dry season and a total of 47 megawatts of power with all 3 turbines operating during the rainy season.
