The offices of the Senate of the Republic of Haiti has been moved to to a fancy hotel in the hills of Petionville due to insecurity in downtown Port-au-Prince.

According to a contract signed between the Senate, represented hi its president Carl Murat Cantave, and Horser Haiti S.A., three two-bedroom apartments were rented at the Ritz Kinam Hotel to house the 3 offices of the Senate from November 19, 2019 to January 18, 2019.

Senate President Carl Murat Cantave says he is fed up with growing insecurity in full swing along Harry Truman Boulevard, better known as the Bicentenaire, in downtown Port-au-Prince, where the Haitian parliament lodges.

A high level meeting between president Jovenel Moise, Senate President Carl Murat Cantave, Depute President Garry Bodeau and Judicial president Rene Sylvestre was held at the national palace Thursday in an attempt to solve the political crisis.

According to Haitian newspaper Le Nouveliste, this meeting was held at the demand of president Jovenel Moise

President Jovenel Moise said he is ready for inclusive dialogue and wants to be part of the solution, Depute Gary Bodeau told the newspaper.

Protesters burn in the city of Gonaives, Haiti, burn down the clinic of Senate President and doctor Carl Murat Cantave and his Foundation Luis Gabriel. The protesters also set fire to equipment in the his clinic.

This act of vandalism committed on Monday, September 23, 2019, in Gonaives was done by activists who protested against the decision of the president Cantave to organize the meeting of ratification of the Prime Minister Fritz William Michel.

According to news reports, these acts of vandalism were done by militants of Ayiti An Aksyon (AAA), the political party of Senator Cantave's own cousin, Senator Youry Latortue who is now in opposition against President Jovenel Moise.

Haiti Artibonite Senator Carl Murat Cantave is the new President of Senate following elections held Thursday. Cantave received 16 votes against his oponent Senator Pierre Francois Sildor who received only 12.

Senator Cantave thanked all his fellow Senators for the vote of confidence they gave him that makes me the new Speaker of the Senate and the National Assembly for the 2019 legislative year.
