New UN Mission to Haiti: MINUJUSTH will be replaced by BINUH
Just when you thought the UN Mission to Haiti was going to leave the country for good, there more good news... MINUJUSTH will be replaced by BINUH, a new UN Mission, come October 2017
On Tuesday, June 27, the United Nations Security Council approved the establishment of this new political mission for Haiti called the UN "Integrated Office" in Haiti or BINUH.
BINUH's new mission will be to support the Haitian government in strengthening political stability and good governance.
BINUH will replace United Nations Mission for Justice Support in Haiti (MINUJUSTH) on October 16 when their time is up, putting an end to 15 years of peacekeeping presence in the country.
