Many Senators and Deputes in Haiti have NO running office but get a check just for that

Haiti's political system is designed for corruption, one journalist said. Every Senator and Deputes in Haiti receive a monthly check for a running office in their department but very few of them have an office.

The few who do have an office location do not actually have a fully staffed office, says journalist Garry Pierre Paul Charles of Radio Scoop FM.

The money these Senators and Deputes receive to run the office almost always gets spend on anything but the office. "There has to be measures taken by the executive branch to make sure that employees are actually getting paid in these offices instead of the money being readily available to these officials to do with it as they please," another radio station journalist said.

As long at the Senator or Depute get access the cash directly, the money will certainly be diverted to other things.
