Haiti is in a rare position of strength as China and Taiwan engage in a global tug-of-war over diplomatic allegiances, a Mimai Herald article says.

Haitian president Jovenel Moise plans to meet with members of the Haitian Diaspora in Florida Sunday, 14 Apr 2017.

This planned meeting will happen while President Jovenel is returning back from his participation in the Eighth Summit of the Americas in Peru.

The president will leave Florida on Monday to return to Haiti completing his official voyage.

The government of Haiti has just agreed to become more efficient in the management of foreign aid money in the framework of partnership with financial partners such as the IDB (BID in French), the European Union and the World Bank.

According to AHP (Agence Haïtienne de Presse), Aviol Fleurant, the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, welcomes the idea.

In an interview to Journalists Gary Pierre Paul Charles of radio SCOOP FM and Jean Serginho Lindor of Television National regarding his first 100 days in office, president Jovenel argued that nearly 50,000 Haitians [with TPS] are established in the United States, "many have a wife and kids, some are studying, many are working," they are contributing to American society.
