According to Haiti news reports many competent lawyers from argued on both sides giving reason why Sophia Martelly is legally or not allowed to participate in the upcoming elections.
Those who oppose her candidacy say the first lady is NOT Haitian while her mother and father are both Haitians making Sophia Martelly a Haitian by right of blood (Jus sanguinis).
