It seems that the eligibility to be a candidate in an election in Haiti is different from other countries in the Caribbean.

In other to be part of an election in other caribbean islands, The candidate has to make a certain deposit stipulated by the election
commission.

However, if the candidate doesn't obtain a certain percentage of the vote, he loses the deposit.

Nevertheles, and in all fairness, if a candidate accepts the money allotted to him to take part in the election, never campaigned nor use the money for electioneering purposes, it is the right of the government to seek reimbursement of such sum.
