According to the caribjournal-com on 19 June 2012, Haiti President Michel Martelly will soon head to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the Rio+20 climate conference.

Martelly will participate at the high-level development talks and meet with international leaders from June 19 to June 24, according to the National Palace.

The conference itself runs from June 20 to June 22.

The conference will focus on finding an institutional framework for sustainable development and growing a green economy in the context of sustainable development and the eradication of poverty.

Martelly will participate in several bilateral meetings during the talks, according to the National Palace.

Heads of state from around the world will attend the talks, including US President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The green economy is a top priority for a number of governments in the Caribbean, which will have a strong presence at the talks.
