Status of limitation does not exist for crime against humanity

If Martelly tries to pardon Jean Claude Duvalier and the macoutes that were involved in committing crime against humanity, then soon or later Martelly would have to go to trial in International Court of Justice as an accomplice, collaborator of war criminals by providing safe place of abode to protect war criminals such as Jean Claude Duvalier and the former tonton macoutes that committed horrendous atrocities.

It is a well known fact that not every Duvalierist and macoutes committed crime during the Duvalier regime.

I have known some decent Duvalierists and macoutes such as the late Mallerbe Michel, his brother I believe Luc Michel was professor of physics in college St. Pierre.

Mallerbe used to criticized bitterly the crime some of his colleagues were doing.

Mallerbe Michel used to work in Port-au-Prince as a koutier in the late 1950's. He was a decent human being.

It is the same country that claims it is the beacon of freedom of speech, liberty of expression, belief and political freedom that gave the Duvalier regime Carte Blanche to massacred Haitian that read and talk about Karl Marx or Fidel Castro in Haiti but when it come to justice, the Duvalierist crimes were not important and the empire asked the Haitian to forget about the atrocities commited by the Duvalier regime but at the same time maintains the the Nazis crimes are still important and must be prosecuted.

This a slap and disrespect to the Haitian people.

This double standard means the Haitians are infra humans.

The Duvalier regime, the Macoutes, the Toto Constant, etc were military by proxy for the empire.

Now the Empire placed them in safe heaven to protect them whether they claim they are in prison for questionable offenses or the are in Haiti or other part of the world.

If the International Court of justice failed to assume its responsibility, it would be legitimate for the Haitian people to make the offspring of those criminal to pay for what their father and mother did. That will put on notice future generation that they could be accountable for crime committed by their parent or grand parents and that will make future criminal to ponder on the Haitian adage that "bete ki gain yin keu pa jambe du feu."
