Jim,

Thanks for your response.

I don't agree with it. I have recently read Peter Hallward's book, Damming the Flood, Haiti and the politics of Containment.

In a well documented read, he proposes that Haiti has been restrained from pursuing a democratic process by foreign countries that have allied themselves with the Haitian ruling elite families who keep the poor in poverty (low wages, poor living conditions etc.) so they can enrich themselves.

To me this is morally and spiritually repugnant.

I question why Lavalas was excluded in the last election?

Do you really believe that they failed to file the proper papers.

I think the foreign countries knew they couldn't get their candidate elected because of the popularity of Lavalas (who by the way won all elections except for the 2004-2006 disaster inflicted upon Haiti) so they concocted a fraud election.

Do youi remember Marc Bazin.

He was a foreign puppet who couldn't gather any votes against Lavalas.

Concerning the chimeres: do you realize this was most likely part of the foreigners demonization of Aristide.

Do you realize that the foreigners in alliance with the elite supported the Convergence Democratique from 2000 on and paralyzed the Lavalas government.

Do you realize that the para military under Guy Philippe, Danny Toussaint and others killed hundreds of innocent people in those years.

Do you realize the tens of thousands of murders and assassinations committed by the Duvalier regimes (Tonton Macoutes),the regime following Baby Doc, and the regime from 2004-2006?

Hallward, not trying to make Aristide a saint, says under his government maybe 30-40 were killed.

Considering the great and concentrated attacks Aristide was under, one can't compare this to what precede Aristide.

I do not consider a minimum wage of $1.80 per day (is this correct?)a suitable wage for anyone.

Can you live decently on that. How many are unemployed in Haiti?

Are the elite not running sweatshops and abusing the poor for their personal enrichment?

I trust my heart.

I am not an intellectual, that is true. But I search for the truth.

I don't believe everything I hear or read especially when it comes from the government.

Most governments are well practiced liars since most reps are lawyers.

I hope you search for the truth and are as concerned for the Haitian poor as much as you are for the rich.

If you have a good book to read to justify your position, please let me know. I will read it and compare to Hallward's position and evaluate.

I pray for Haiti everyday that God may help the people who really need the help.

God's blessings to you.
