"Immoral and Terrible Statement" I beg to differ, the statement is problaby taken out of context by many. A speaker must be aware of his/her audience, the crowd to whom a lecture or conference is delivered, a few things must considered his/her peers, use of technical language/jargon or if the audience is regula allusive formsr folks, a lay person.

We should also consider the occasion such statement is made. I think Manigat made the remark upon seeing people voted for candidate they previously rejected.

" A dog returning to its vomit" is not new, the concept enjoyed wide popularity in the Midle Ages. The expression is frequently found in various methaphorical and allusive forms.

Manigat is a philosopher an historian, he is not alone in making such remark; Chaucer Parson, W. Tydal, S. Warren, P. Mcctchan, G Laundrum and other great thinkers used that line to make their point.

Later I'll share with you the use of the term in the Bible.

In the Bibliography of major proverb collections and works you'll find plenty of examples...A dog returns to its vomit relates to HABIT; HUMAN NATURE our subconscious actions...

Chassez le naturel il revient au galop!
During my heological reflection I came across the expression in both the Old and New Testament;
Proverbs 26:11 A dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness.

2 Peter 2:22 It has happen to them according to the true proverb A dog returns to its vomit, and "a sow, after washing itself, wallow in the nud."

This is from the Holy Book, It happened before there's nothing new under the sun. We must be careful how we use quote for they may be both Pro or Con.

We'll explore it further if needed, at the meantime enjoy a blessed weekend
