Dear Fellow Citizen

My names is Sheineider Laurent and have been involved in Social causes since 2006, I have long worked for positive change in Haiti.

My family and I now believe the time has come for me to seek elected office.

I want to bring fresh ideas and positive solutions in the village of Petion Ville by running for mayoral office.

I have always been very concerned about our youth issues, it is estimated that as much as 61% of the Haitian population lives in absolute poverty, political exclusion, instability, and dictatorship.

I believe there are workable solutions that will enhance the quality of living of the people in Petion Ville.

I would like to, provide result in environmental initiatives, implement a number of labor intensive projects, such as (street cleaning, tree planting and erosion control), increase gender equality and the well-being of children in the village, encourage wider use of non-charcoal fuels, and control violence as well as armed gangs who pose severe security threats in urban areas.

To succeed in this effort, I need to mount an aggressive campaign.

I intend to continue my focus in this election campaign on what is best for the citizens and businesses of Petion Ville.

The platform and goals that I will present offer improvements in the operations and administration of our Village.

My goal is to provide a significantly higher level of safety and response to our community and meet its needs.

My opponents are subject to allegations of misappropriation of founds involved in taking confiscated drugs and cash, pocketing money collected from the tragedy of January 12th, and other alleged illegal activities.

It is for these reasons this campaign will require a strong and organized grassroots effort and I offer you a real choice in making the difference to the upcoming election.

As Pre Campaign actions, I started the OK movement 5 months ago, rallied 32, 078 voters in 16 blocks 5 boroughs in the city of Petion Ville.

I “sought Sponsorship” for a group of 712 kids from the age of 0 to 14; provided free “health care” coverage for over 2, 000 women in between the ages of 10 to 49 in gynecological assistance in collaboration with City Med Haiti by the Cure America’s program, I directed the “Crime Prevention” workshop in place St Pierre and Boyer and supervised volunteers “Site Maintenance Committee ” actions in the 14 public sites abroad.

Now, with brochures, flyers, yard signs, t-shirt, advertising on radio stations and TVs, I cannot do this alone.

That is why I am inviting Haitian Americans, Americans, Canadians, etc… and more over the people of Petion Ville to join this campaign and make a real difference.

An early contribution of $50, $100, $250, $500, $1, 000 will help raise the initial funds needed to launch the campaign.

We hope to raise $ 150, 000.00 by November 2010. I ask for your support in meeting this goal. I hope u will use this opportunity once again and help me to bring better government in Haiti.
