I certainly do not believe that there is a plot afoot to exclude Mr. Weclef Jean from the presidential elections.

Haiti does have constitution which must be be adhered to. I am firly convinced that those in authority do wish to have Mr.Jean in the race, since he his the most attrative of the alternative.

hi, first all, i respect everyone opinions, but theres one thing, as a matter of fact: Haiti needs help and does need someone whom is strong another to be the president, my voting would go for Wyclef jean, and iam willing to go to Haiti if possible to vote him, 'He CAN DO IT, OH YES HE CAN'' the only that these rumors and these people has to do is to just give him chance.

Although ofcourse haters are going to try to kill, but guess what, God is the only one who can take awya, so thereofre, i want everyone to know that wyclef is the MAN FOR HAITI

So whoever trying to put him down or making weird needs to close ther mouth, and let him be him.he been haiti, he helps so what the hell........

Fist of all, I salute the effort by even letting people say something.

As I noticed for the past days, many people has been giving their opinion on either Wyclef can run or not. We need to remember that the political circle in Haiti just has diapora-phobia.

There is no way in our Haitian constitution that prohibits Wyclef or any Haitian-born living outside of Haiti to run for President.

As the matter of fact, the Haitian constitution doesn't even address the criteria of losing Haitian residency.

It is only applies to foreigner who obtain residency in Haiti and other who became Haitian by naturalization process.

By law, they should not be trying to establish any Haitian-born naturalization.

Haiti is not the only country that has this law; let's go to Pakistan where Mrs. Benazir Bhutto left the country into exile in 1998 and came back after 9 years and ran for office in the same year (2007).

The article
135e only says "have resided in the country for five (5) consecutive years before the date of the elections." Wyclef Jean has lived in Haiti for more than that. Now, the tricky part is: what is one (1) year for the Haitian constitution?

It doesn't define it comparing to the US constitution that defines a year as 180 days and more. People may not agree with my post, but this is the law.
