MINUSTAH - United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti

MINUSTAH (United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti) arrived in Haiti in June 2004. The mission was established by the UN Security Council to provide support for stability, security, and governance in the country during a period of political turmoil and transition, following the departure of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide.

This mission was authorized by the UN Security Council in the aftermath of Boniface Alexandre's assumption of the presidency in response to the volatile situation that unfolded.
