The People of Haiti demand accountability, Finance Minister tells new Anti-Corruption Boss Claudy Gassant

Ministre Joseph Jouthe, Haiti's finance minister made sure to remind Maitre Claudy Gassant, the new boss of the anti-corruption unit ULCC that he took the job at a moment when the people of Haiti are incessantly demanding accountability.

Speaking at the installation ceremony of Maitre Claudy Gassant, Ministre Joseph Jouthe invited the new Director General of ULCC to fight the most decried cases of corruption in Haiti by putting in place mechanisms to discourage people from practicing corruption.

"You gain access to this position of high responsibility at a particular moment in the national life, marked by the legitimate mistrust of the population who denounces more and more misuse of public funds," said Minister Joseph Jouthe to the new boss of the ULCC.

Minister Joseph Jouthe reminded DG Claudy Gassant that the mission of ULCC is to help fight corruption and its manifestations in all its forms within the public administration.

Jouthe reviewed the various tasks of the ULCC:

  • Protect public and collective assets
  • Ensure the effectiveness of measures and actions to prevent, detect, punish and eliminate acts of corruption and related offenses
  • Promote transparency in the management of public affairs
  • Establish a climate of confidence to promote private investment
  • Moralize public administration and the Republic in general, etc.
