Haiti - Senior US Official Fears the Worse in a Government of Transition after Martelly

Former US Ambassador to Haiti Kenneth Merten says it is very likely that a transitional government take over Haiti after Martelly... "Realistically speaking," Merten told Reuters, "We may be looking at some sort of temporary solution until there is a handover to a new elected president."

With all the politicians in Haiti so hungry for power, Kenneth Merten fears the worse:

"Our fear," Merten said "is that we go into a situation that is open ended. In our analysis that is a dangerous place to go."

"We are watching it very carefully, we are very concerned, we hope that dialogue between the candidates, the president and the president of the Senate and others can come to a solution," Merten said.

Kenneth Merten is currently the special Coordinator for Haiti at the State Department.

With all those malandrins vying for power, it is certain that Haiti will be entered in the same political quagmire of heretofore, reminiscent of the old Duvalier area.
I think that certain criteria is to be put in place in order to be qualify for entering the presidential race. A sound education should top the list and then proof that they have the support of a fair quota of the population, and finally, a certain financial
