Here is a excerpt of Jack Guy Lafontant's Resignation Speech:
"I could have succeeded in any country in the world," the Prime Minister said, "but I chose to succeed in my own country. I chose to serve my country. And that's the reason, when President Jovenel called me, I didn't really want to.
"I wasn't looking for a job. I don't need a job. But, I thought I had to be there in this historic rendezvous where this man, son of a peasant, who went to the highest level of the state, I had to be there to make history with him."
"Before I came here I submitted my resignation to the president but I will remain a decent Haitian, a Haitian who will remain in this country, a Haitian who will return to the same home where he used to live, a Haitian with no millions in the bank and a Haitian who is proud that what he has left for his children is a good education."
"I am and remain at the service of the Republic."
