In an interview to Journalist Gerrier Henry Thursday evening, Senator Youri Latortue refereed to Article 111.8 of the Haitian Constitution which state: In any case, the Chamber of Deputies or the Senate can neither be dissolved nor can it be adjourned, or the mandate of its members extended.

Meanwhile, Senator Youri continued, there are provisions in the Constitution which states what happens if the president suddenly resigns or is removed from office, referring to article 149 of the Constitution.

So, according to Senator Youri, the constitution recognizes that Haitian presidents have to leave sometimes but Senators and Deputes never do.
