Haiti President Martelly Wants To Create 500,000 Jobs

The topic in Haiti this week is JOBS... and more jobs... Honestly I was getting fed up with Affaire Belizaire... LOL... Haitian President Michel Martelly's goal is to create 500,000 new jobs in Haiti in the next 3 years?

Is that possible?

Of course it is... IF the Haitian government and Haitian lawmakers put the people first...

Affaire Belizaire... Senateur Moise... Ou menm tou wi bos papa! LOL...

"The bottom line is that we want investors to profit so that Haiti can prosper," President Martelly said in a news conference Tuesday, "Haitians don't want a gift... They want work."

The Associated Press reports...

Martelly said his government is working to draft laws that would speed up the paperwork to make it easier to open businesses in Haiti as well as create projects that lure people from the capital and provide services to the countryside.

At least Martelly understand that JOBS will not come falling from the sky...

We always say that we need more investors in Haiti; however, I have a feeling that there are many Haitians out there who confuse INVESTORS with PHILANTHROPISTS... Especially some of us in the Diaspora who sit comfortably, internet access, air conditioning and all, let's just say... N-ap fe literature...

Investors invest to make a profit... Investors talk about profit margins... We need their paychecks and they need our sweat... Right?

Already I notice people complaining about what kind of jobs are coming into Haiti.

Honestly... why don't we go from NO JOBS to YES JOBS... and then... We can focus on better jobs in the future...

Huhhhh? What do you say to that?

Perhaps some of us are forgetting something... A PHILOSOPHE in Haiti is just a high school graduate... The average philosophe in Haiti is just a "Doctus Cum Libro," Wiiii... Yo kapab recite "Le Cid", Rodrigue et Chimene, Maître corbeau, sur un arbre perché... They know everything about Bertrand d'Orgeron, they know that NACL is salt and H2O is water but most of them can't even hammer a freakin' nail to a piece of wood.

It's true... You know it is...

Not only that, the average job seeker in Haiti is probably some poor guy, or a single mother, looking for an honest pay to feed his family... Anything is better than begging for your daily bread!

Begging a Diaspora friend or family for some money, it's still begging... I've never had to experience it... thanks Dad... but I'm sure it affects a man's self esteem...

When you can put food on the table without standing in line with your arms extended or waiting for somebody else's bread crumbs to fall off the table, even if it arrives via Western Union, it has to feel good...

500,000 jobs... If Martelly can do it, I can live with it...

There's just one more thing I have to add...

About that "Haitians don't want a gift" thing... The president needs to have a chat with some people in my family! LOL...

Good thinking and wonderful approach Mr. President.

I share your view on this matter.

There is alot of things that can be done in Haiti to create jobs, however, the haitian culture makes it impossible for the haitian people to adopt and adjust to the labor and workforce mentality.

I wish you get the thing straight guys. Philosophy in haiti is equivalent to 2 years community college in u.s mean when someone pass the exam and get the diploma it like you have a 2 years liberal art degree. When a well educate haitian who come from a good school in haiti like canado ect to name a few come to u.s. and admit at the university level the general study is like a review for them.the have no problem to adjust themselve to the system.
