Haiti Government Orders Army Soldiers to Clear Out Of Old Army Bases

Haitian army veterans and would-be soldiers have been given a direct order by the Government of Haiti to clear out of the old army bases... Will they listen?

A direct order??? WOW... That's is a very strong statement... But I guarantee you... there is probably NO mention of any sanctions if the order is not followed...

The Associated Press reports...

Haitian authorities are ordering some army veterans and would-be soldiers to clear out of several old barracks they have taken over in recent weeks in hopes the disbanded army will be revived, the Interior Ministry said Tuesday.

The government office ordered individuals carrying illegal weapons and wearing military fatigues to leave the barracks of the Armed Forces of Haiti and other sites owned by the Haitian government. The Interior Ministry said it wouldn't tolerate gunmen disturbing the peace.

It was the strongest statement yet by the Haitian government about the former soldiers who are pressuring Haiti's President Michel Martelly to honor his campaign pledge to restore the army that was disbanded in 1995 because of its abusive past.

Read the full article here then tell me if you notice any where in the article where is says what will happen if the " army veterans and would-be soldiers" choose not to obey the order...

Maybe the Associated Press forgot to publish that part...

Do you understand the real reason I am asking you this question "What is the sanction if they disobey a direct order?"

Nothing against the ex soldiers or the Martelly administration... I just like to raise the "what if" question.

Monel, your father was one of the lucky ones. I have seen and heard in my then neighborhood in Port-au-Prince how some people were treated and humiliated in public then thrown to Fort Dimanche only to never heard or seen them again.

The worst part was, we, the kids were not allowed to talk about them or mentioned their names.

Some of them were family members.

Good point Marjorie! excuse me for butting in, I would add that Martelly gives them a time limit and a time certain to the last second on when they should get out of there and if they insist on staying after that date and time, what may happen to them. Martelly might also want to tell them the code of their legal misconduct and what that might entails.

For example, if their conduct is classified as civil disobedience, then under that legal code, Martelly may want to clarify for them what the penalties are and for how long they may be

The old army has no chance but to fallow order.

Failure to do so will resolve in a bloodbath.

Who do they think they are to demand anything?

If the government can't control them, next they'll give a coup d'etat.

Remove the entire root before it

It seems to me a very reasonable question.

What will happen if the squatters don't obey a direct order from the Martelly administration?

A strong order is a good start but what are the ramifications if not obeyed is an integral part of a direct order.

Part of the direct order is missing and should be
