Haiti Government Activates Emergency Response System to deal with Disaster in the North

The Government of Haiti has activated the national risk management and disaster system in order to increase its efforts to assist victims of the recent floods in Northern Haiti... 34 million gourdes has been released for emergency response...

According to a press release form the National Palace, four districts of the country, especially the north has been affected by the recent heavy rainfalls in the country that resulted in flooding.

Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, who chaired Tuesday an important meeting to assess the situation, announced a budget of 34 million gourdes to cope with the emergency in those areas affected by the storms.

"We share the grief and pain of all the families affected by the floods," said Prime Minister Lamothe informing that the Government's actions are coordinated by the Ministry of the interior through the Directorate for Civil Protection.

The government is providing a quick emergency response by providing hot meals and water purification to people in need in the affected area...
