Haiti Elections Update - Senators propose 29 Amendments to the Electoral Law

Haiti Elections 2014 --- A group of Haiti Electoral council (CEP) members met Tuesday with senators to disscus ELECTIONS and the possible amendment of the Electoral Law (Loi Electorale)... They returned home with a list of 29 amendments proposed by the senate, changes that should be done, before they can consider it...

The CEP Delegation consisted of CEP President Max Mathurin, Néhémie Joseph and Léopold Berlanger and a few technichans from the electoral institution, according to news reports...

The 2 hour meeting was presided by Haitian senator Jocelerme Privert in the presence of Senators Francisco De la Cruz, Steven Benoît, Melius Hypolite, Lucas Sainvil and one of the members of the Groupe des 6, Senator Jean-William Jeanty.

In the meeting CEP President Max Mathurin called for the parties involved to do whatever is necessary so that elections can be held as scheduled...

I read a long article about this detailing comments and opposition from various people present but one relevant point that came out of the meeting is the fact that electoral law of 27 novembre 2013 was only designed for elections of 1/3 of the senate while elections will now be held or 2/3 of the senate... Senator Jocelerme Privert feels that there are much needed amendments that need to be done to the electoral law... But wait... The El Rancho Accord already made previsions for that... Article 10 of the Accord said, and everyone agreed, that there will only be ONE elections at the end of the year...

What do you think about that?
