Gérard Latortue Latortue was prime minister of Haiti, with Boniface Alexandre as provisional President, after the exile of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide in February 2004
LaTortue organised the 2006 elections in Haiti to replace the interim government. Rene Preval became President of Haiti
Gabriel Valdes, Ambassador of Chile to the United States and former head of MINUSTAH presented the award to Gérard Latortue.
