Guy Philippe writes to Haiti's Senate president asking for $125,000 US to pay his legal bills

Haitian senator-elect guy Philippe, who is currently in prison on money laundering charges in the United States, wrote a letter to the Senate asking for $125,000 US to cover the legal fees so he can appeal his case.

In a letter addressed to Haitian Senate president Joseph Lambert, via his attorney Jean Bernard Raphael, Guy Philippe writes:

"Mr. Senate President, following to the judgement against me on 21 June 2017 for money laundering, accusations that remains unjustified by the US government, I am appealing this decision.

I will need one hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars American ($125,000 US) for US Attorney Fees and other fees required by the case."

Since I am not able to come up with that kind of money, I would like to kindly ask the Senate of the Republic to help me find that sum of money so I can move on with my case."
