FLASH: Associated Press photo-journalist shot by a Senator inside Haiti's Senate

Photo-journalist Dieu-Nallio Chery of the Associated Press caught a bullet in the face from Haitian senator Jean Marie Ralph Fethiere Monday after militants invaded the immediate space of the senator.

surrounded by militants of the opposition and fearful for his life on the grounds of parliament, Senator Fethiere pulled out his weapon and fired a few shots.

"I was defending myself. Self-defense is a sacred right," the Senator said.
