Lionel Previlon who was an active member of the PHTK political party and a close friend of candidate Jovenel Moise and former president Michel Martelly had just finished escorting Jovenel Moise when his body was found dead near the vehicle.

Parti Haitien Tek Kale (PHTK) released a press release soon after to alert the public of this crime. PHTK asks the authorities to "take full responsibility for ensuring the safety of candidate for president Jovenel Moïse, other candidates and citizens in general."
