You may thing that the 'Haiti Is Open For Business' motto adopted by the Martelly Administration is a joke but wait til you hear what Laurent Lamothe, Foreign Minister of Haiti, had to say about it. 'Haiti is Open for Business' is a strategy that aims to change the diplomacy, from a traditional diplomacy to a business diplomacy... Business why? To establish ways and means and try to present Haiti as an emerging country... [hmmm... I like the sounds of that...] We want that, in the coming years, Haiti will become a country where people see us not as a humanitarian work, but as a country where they can come invest and at the same time create jobs. Haiti Foreign Minister Laurent Lamothe also talks about ways to turn the 42 consulates and embassies Haiti has abroad from diplomatic entities to business magnets, attracting foreign investors to come invest in Haiti. What do Haitian consulates and embassies do besides issuing passports? Huh? I am not kidding, I honestly don't know... The last time I saw a Haitian Ambassador on TV, there was a 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti... Oh yeah... And then he ran for PRESIDENT... LOL... It would be nice if, after their term is over, they could tell the Haitian people how they've actually made Haiti BETTER.. What do you think about that? Reply with your comments
